Poll Shows Californians Feel Overlooked by Politicians and Worry About State Policies

Californians’ commitment to the environment is well-known, but a new poll by Probolsky Research indicates a significant disconnect between voters and their elected officials. The survey, which included 900 participants, highlights widespread concern about the impact of state climate policies on everyday life and the feeling that politicians are not listening to their constituents.

  • 84% of respondents believe that politicians are ignoring people like them, a sentiment shared broadly across different political affiliations, age groups, genders, ethnicities, and education levels.
  • 75% of those surveyed think that environmental objectives should not take precedence over the fundamental needs of American families.
  • 71% express concern about the economic implications of California’s climate goals.
  • 70% are apprehensive about how these environmental policies will affect their daily routines.
